1 John 5 (NASB)

Overcoming the World 1(A)Whoever believes that Jesus is the [a]Christ is (B)born of God, and whoever loves the Father (C)loves the child born of Him.

2(D)By this we know that (E)we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments.

3For (F)this is the love of God, that we (G)keep His commandments; and (H)His commandments are not burdensome.

4For whatever is (I)born of God (J)overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.

5Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who (K)believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

6This is the One who came (L)by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood It is (M)the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

7For there are (N)three that testify:

8[b]the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

9(O)If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that (P)He has testified concerning His Son.

10The one who believes in the Son of God (Q)has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has (R)made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.

11And the testimony is this, that God has given us (S)eternal life, and (T)this life is in His Son.

12(U)He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

This Is Written That You May Know
13(V)These things I have written to you who (W)believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have (X)eternal life.

14This is (Y)the confidence which we have before Him, that, (Z)if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

15And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, (AA)we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

16If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, (AB)he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death (AC)There is a sin leading to death; (AD)I do not say that he should make request for this.

17(AE)All unrighteousness is sin, and (AF)there is a sin not leading to death.

18(AG)We know that (AH)no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God (AI)keeps him, and (AJ)the evil one does not (AK)touch him.

19(AL)We know that (AM)we are of God, and that (AN)the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

20And (AO)we know that (AP)the Son of God has come, and has (AQ)given us understanding so that we may know (AR)Him who is true; and we (AS)are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ (AT)This is the true God and (AU)eternal life.

21(AV)Little children, guard yourselves from (AW)idols.

A great site for Bible study:

I am so thankful to be clothed in Jesus the Messiah's Righteousness so that He keeps me securely in His hand!  All praise to Him alone now and forever!

Hebrews 8

The New Priestly Service
1 Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2 a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.
3 For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this One also have something to offer. 4 For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; 5 who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”[a] 6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
A New Covenant

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8 Because finding fault with them, He says: “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the LORD. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds[b] I will remember no more.”[c]
13 In that He says, “A new covenant, He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

Jesus is our High Priest, He is the ONLY mediator between God and man.  We don't need to go through a priest, pastor, teacher, speaker, author, group, ritual, rite, liturgy, institution...or what have you. We are not under law if we have faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Galatians 3:19-25

19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

We need only go through the ONE who has provided the only way of adoption Galatians 4:4-6, as His child.Romans 8:14-16

God has given us His word of truth to guide our lives into what is best for us.  What a wonderful God!

2 Timothy 3:15-19

15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Our good works or deeds don't out-weigh our bad.  God doesn't grade on a curve!  He accepts only perfect Righteousness.  That is why our only hope is in Jesus the Christ alone---Yeshua the Messiah.  He is the beautiful fulfillment of all that was spoken of in the Old Testament.  He is the Savior of the world to all who will believe in faith.  Not to all who are good deed do-ers.  But to all who will come to Him on His terms, not the terms that we would like or by practicing wishful thinking.

I had a relative who wanted to think that God should accept her because she was a "good person" in her own view.  She told me that there is not just ONE way to God, and even if there is, it was not Jesus! Yesterday I was thinking about her.  She died some years ago.  It is so sad to see people reject God and want to come to Him and obtain salvation through their own terms, not His.  It is as if we all want to be our own god, and yet God's word tells us that no one has an excuse, because He can be seen even in His creation. Romans 1:19-21

To thinking that we some how created ourselves or that something came from nothing, is to reject clear evidence for the sake of not wanting there to be a God whom we all are accountable before.   When I think of my grandmother, I know that if she would have humbled herself and put down her pride, she could have had the peace that only God can provide to His children.

God has given us a way to be saved from both the power and penalty of sin.  Yet, in stubborn pride it is difficult for self-sufficient people to recognize and confess the need.  I know for my husband, he came to saving faith in Jesus Christ as a young adult.  It was not until he came to a difficult situation in life that he could not "fix" on his own, that he started to acknowledge his need.  Prior to that, he was very competent. He thought there was little that he couldn't fix on his own in life.  But God was gracious to Him in allowing Him to go through a difficult situation in order to bring him to the point of accepting that God is God...and he is not. He had some Bible knowledge, and prayed.  Not an elaborate prayer, not a "copy the words" prayer, but a prayer from the heart that He believed in Jesus and needed to be saved.  He asked for God to help him and make Himself known to him.  ---God has been faithful and has been answering that prayer ever since. John came to realize his sinful condition before the God who created him.  The Lord continues to make Himself known through all of the situations in life and through daily studying His word of truth.  God is so good, gracious, loving and patient! He is a perfect Father.  He is with his children throughout life and forever more.  He guides lovingly. He corrects for our own good. He sees us through the tough times and allows us the joy of praising Him and responding to Him in a close relationship.  He's not waiting for us to flub up so He can "get us".  He forgives us when we are willing to admit what we have done and be forgiven.  Isn't that what we all would want in a father?    This is not a religion that we "try" for a time and see if it fits for what we want.  This is a lifetime of living for the God who made all things and offers us His love, His forgiveness, His help...of course we want to do good works, not to gain us approval or to look good to God... but because we are his children and we realize where all good things come from...HIM!  What a blessing and privilege it is to be His and to live this life which is a gift from Him, in gratitude to Him.

Titus 3:4-8

4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

Responsible to God or Others?
Written by The Austins
Saturday, 21 August 2010

Who is responsible for what YOU believe?

A denomination?  A pastor? A teacher? A system?

Will you be able to plead before God that you were just following someone else who seemed smart or good?

Listen to this discussion at the link below and then have a family discussion about it~

True Christianity is a relationship--day in and day out

...not merely a religious act of following others and having standards and beliefs based on them.
